Can You Diagnose Oak Wilt?

oak wilt corpus christi tx
We understand that oak wilt is an extremely scary thing, which is why our trained professionals can diagnose your trees with oak wilt. Oak wilt can and will quickly damage your trees, and can eventually kill them. Even if your tree is extremely healthy, this is a problem for your trees.

We look for the fungus responsible for oak wilt—which is scenically known as “ceratocystis fagacearum.” This disease impacts white oaks, red oaks, and live oaks in Texas. Some oaks will not be impacted by it, but some do – and there aren't many ways to predict which ones are which; however, we are aware that one of the biggest signs that a tree has oak wilt is that another tree near it has it as well. This is an extremely contagious disease affecting oak trees.

Working with our staff, we can help with diagnose oak wilt and then create a care plan for treatment. Infected trees will likely lose branches and can be unsightly. However, we can prune and trim your trees so that they look beautiful again – but only once the diseases has been stopped. Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with a cure for oak wilt, because one hasn't been developed yet. Our Professional Arborist can help you to treat the problem, however. We do have a Texas Oak Wilt Certification, which means that we have gone through training to help with identification oak wilt, the overall care and treatment, and finally, how to maintain it and prevent it after healing.

Oak Wilt Diagnosis in Corpus Christi

One of the most common treatment methods for oak wilt is to dig trenches around the tree itself to break the root connection between the trees in your yard. This is why early detection by one of our team members can make a huge difference in preventing the spread of oak wilt throughout your property. In many cases, people will choose to simply remove the tree altogether. We can help you with that and give you some tips and tricks to reduce your risk of having the problem again.

If you suspect you have a tree with a disease, including oak wilt or another harmful disease, give us a call and a specialist from our team will stop by to have a look at it. As professionals who really love trees, this is a serious problem and we want to prevent it from spreading as much as possible. Early detection really is the key – go with a team that understands the specifics of oak wilt and how to identify it in a quick and timely manner.
